Vision Insurance

Are you over the age of 65?
Yes   No

Vision insurance is one of the insurance benefits normally covered in large group health insurance policies, but rarely in individual health insurance. The most commonly covered vision basics are annual eye examinations where there is a complete evaluation of the eyes, including tests for eye health and a refraction to determine the need for glasses.

When glasses are indicated for the patient, the frames and lenses will be provided. The replacement of lenses is usually done when needed, sometimes as often as every year. The replacement of frames is done at longer intervals, generally every two years, depending on the vision plan. Contact lenses can also be covered, if the vision cannot be corrected with glasses. However, contacts may be indicated as a medical necessity in some eye conditions, such as following cataract surgery.
