Cobalt Corporation


Cobalt Corporation (now operating as Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield) is the result of the merge of two well-established companies, Blue Cross Blue Shield United of Wisconsin and United Wisconsin Services, Inc.

Although Cobalt Corporation has become Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, the top quality health care it provided continues. Consumers throughout Wisconsin can turn to Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield to get the same affordable quality health coverage that Cobalt used to offer.

In mid-2003, WellPoint Health Networks filed a plan to acquire Cobalt Corporation, which at the time controlled the following Wisconsin insurance corporations: Blue Cross & Blue Shield United of Wisconsin, Compcare Health Services Insurance Corporation, United Heartland Life Insurance Company, United Wisconsin Insurance Company, Unity Health Plans Insurance Corporation, and Valley Health Plan, Inc. Each of these companies are individually responsible for their own copany financial assets and products.
