Health Care in MilwaukeeThe City of Milwaukee Health Department (MHD) has kicked off a new program called the Nurse-Family Partnership. It is a voluntary-enrollment program that uses Registered Public Health Nurses to visit low-income women in their homes during their first pregnancy and throughout the first two years of their childrens' lives. Also, The Task Force on Family Violence held a press conference recently in conjunction with Mayor Barrett and Commissioner Baker to announce a new partnership with five local hospital organizations. The partnership is called The Milwaukee County Health Care Intimate Partner Violence Consortium. Participating hospitals have agreed to provide survivors of intimate partner violence who disclose such experiences in medical settings the opportunity to consistently access community resources such as legal advocacy, case management and support services.
