Health Care Through The Recession

A new presidential administration promises to fix America's health care situation.

Where to Go From Here

It may seem like there is no aspect of our country that isn’t an utter mess right now. Big banks are being bailed out, the auto industry is flailing like a car in the river and as we see here, the health care industry is rapidly falling ill to this economic virus. Is there any hope? I feel that there is. We have a new President with new ways of thinking around how health care and insurance should be offered, and while I don’t hang my hat on things changing immensely and immediately after the old administration departs, I do think they are on course to change for the better. How much worse can it get? The road to change has to be one we travel.

In the meantime, there are things you can do to protect yourself. If you fall into a lower income bracket, don’t automatically assume that any services you may have been receiving or could receive are gone. Some states are worse off than others, and where you live might still be offering services.

Those Who Don’t Have Insurance

If you don’t have concerns about not being able to afford basic care but find specific services (like oncology or nursing home care) being pulled out from under you, don’t despair. People battling diseases like cancer typically fall into the “high risk” category according to insurers, and if your current health insurance plan is no longer covering your treatments, find one who is. Easier said than done? Maybe. However, visit and you will find that there are ways to get the care that you deserve to help you in your fight.

Where we stand now, things are going to be tough until there is a solution implemented by our government that offers care to every single person, regardless of age, economic status or pre-existing health conditions. The health care system is supposed to help those who need it, and right now a lot of people are hurting. It’s a sad but true fact, and one that we can only hope changes after our new President takes office.

I think we are also seeing some signs of recovery from the Economic Recession. Of course, we have no idea of how long it will take to completely recover, but some say it’s going to be longer than for the other recessions in decades. I also scanned an article yesterday that said business owners need a new set of tactics to do well during recovery.
