Since 1941, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan has been encouraging residents of the state to put their health first. Besides boasting a positive credit rating from one of the four largest carrier ratings companies, they also offer their members access to a variety of health plans and programs, including the alternative wellness program, Naturally Blue.

Individual and Family Plans Offered by BCBS of Michigan

Individual Care Blue PPO: This plan covers basic hospitalization and emergency care at a 70% co-insurance rate. Prenatal care for pregnant women is not covered, though delivery is. Prescription drugs are paid at 50% for in-network pharmacies.

Blue Preferred PPO: In-patient and outpatient hospital care, as well as surgical and emergency service, is available with this plan. It offers the same basic services as the traditional plan, but with the added benefit of physician choice and 100% coverage for in-network care.

Flexible Blue HSA: This high-deductible health plan complements a Health Savings Account. Preventive services are emphasized, although the plan works like a PPO.
