In Florida, it seems that threats of hurricanes or other natural disasters happen on a regular basis. Health Insurance Plans Offered by the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida

  • BlueOptions, Blue Choice PPO: Deductibles range from $500-$2,500. Preventive care is available with no co-pay, and other services require a small co-insurance or co-pay amount. There is also an optional maternity rider available. You choose your own doctor, whether in or out of the Blue Cross network.
  • BlueCare HMO: This plan emphasizes preventive care, so co-pays are low. Hospitalization and prescription drugs are covered. Maternity coverage is optional.
  • Dimension IV (DIV): This traditional plan has a 25% co-insurance. Hospitalization and office visits are covered at this percentage, as are outpatient services such as lab work. Prescription drug coverage is available, but only when in-network.
  • Essential: This plan only covers catastrophic injury and hospitalization. A $250 deductible is required, as well as a $250/admission charge. The plan covers operating room charges, intensive care, room and board, drugs and lab work.
