With coverage for over 3.5 million people, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama is known as “The Caring Company.” They are the largest provider of health care in Alabama, trusted since 1936. They are committed to the community, and to providing access to quality health care benefits.

BCBS Alabama Health Plans

Individual Health Plans

  • Individual Plan A: For those without benefits through an employer
  • Individual Blue Plan B:  To help pay for current and future medical expenses with the use of a Health Savings Account (HSA)
  • Blue Link:  A temporary PPO plan for individuals needing coverage for up to 6 months.

Group Health Plans

The group plans include small group coverage for 2 to 50 full-time employees (a group of two must not consist of a husband and wife), and large group coverage, called Blue Card PPO, for 51 or more full-time employees.

Other Available Plans

  • Blue Advantage:  This is Medicare PPO that is an alternative to traditional Medicare and allows additional benefits, like choice of provider.
  • C Plus with PMD:  This is a Medicare Select Plan to supplement both A and B parts of Medicare.

There is also the Federal Employee Program (FEP), Preferred Long-Term Care (LTC), Preferred Health Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Preferred Dependant Care Account (DCA), Preferred Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA), Preferred Health Savings Account (HSA), Air Medical Services, a prenatal wellness program, and a plan focusing on chronic and long-term conditions and illnesses.
